Purdue's Agricultural and Biological Engineering faculty, current students, graduates, and alumni tackle the world's major challenges in food security, water and soil resources, energy, healthcare, environmentally friendly technology, and much more. By applying engineering principles to biological systems, ABE research creates products and practices that improve the quality of human life. Plans are now underway to meet the current and future needs of Purdue's ABE department, which is ranked as the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report. A new addition and renovation of the existing building will cost approximately $80 million—$11 million of which will need to be secured through fundraising by the College of Agriculture. This new building will equip faculty and students to continue to search and find the answers for a changing world.
