Description: Christensen Farms is dedicated to training and developing talented employees. As part of this

initiative, Christensen Farms offers a Production Internship program geared towards college students

pursuing a degree in Animal Science, or similar agricultural degree. The Production Internship Program is an

advanced level opportunity that provides students with exposure to all areas of a leading swine production

company. The internship program offers individuals a 360 degree view of what goes into state-of-the-art

swine production systems. The program includes training, hands-on work experience, and professional

development activities.

Participants in the Production Internship will spend time being exposed to different areas of sow production,

including genetics and multiplication, sow breeding, farrowing and health strategies. In addition, students

will have the opportunity to learn the essentials of the pork industry including: animal welfare, food safety,

pork quality, neighbor and public relations, cost versus production decision making, environmental

initiatives, and employee relations.

Location: Sleepy Eye, MN

Qualifications: Individuals must have a desire to learn, strong leadership skills, and interest in working in

the swine industry. Students must be able to commit to a minimum 8 week duration during the summer

months and be willing to relocate to the Sleepy Eye, MN area during that time. Participants will be required

to work Monday through Friday and possible weekend rotations.
