The Field Research Technician within Seeds and Traits R&D will assist in day to day operations of the Fower corn
breeding programs. This position will provide technical assistance to the breeders and staff for the development of
new inbreds and hybrids that contribute to the commercial success of the company. Work activities will include: assisting
in the supervision, performance and execution of shelling, seed packaging, planting, data collection, pollination and
harvest. This position will work with Fowler leadership and staff members at the location in a team oriented environment
with training in cross functional areas and will be expected to be a role model for safety.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate building, grounds, and equipment maintenance for the Fowler, IN research facility
Operate, maintain and coordinate irrigation on site as needed
Operation, maintain, transport, load and unload of research field and basic farm equipment
Assist in seed processing, planting, pollinating and harvesting nursery material
Assist in supervising temporary personnel for data collection, pollinating, harvest, and seed handling
Demonstrate a positive leadership example for station personnel and seasonal workers
Be a key contributor to the safety program at the station

Travel to outlying sites and winter nursery facilities as needed

Be able to work extended hours during peak seasons
This position is located in Fowler, IN, USA.
Associate’s Degree desired within related field
Previous research experience is preferred, but not required
Technical knowledge of multiple computer applications and willingness to learn proprietary database and data
collection software
Knowledge and training in agronomic practices for the local area including safe application of farm chemicals
Effective communication and organizational skills
Detail and result orientated while being a team player
Receptive and adaptive to changes with work processes and procedures
Familiarity with basic farm equipment operation and maintenance
CDL and Commercial Pesticide license or the ability to acquire within the first year
