Row Crop Production Manager
Green Thumb Farms, a successful family farming operation in
Western Maine, is seeking an assistant farm manager to assist with the
managing, planning and control of farm operations from land preparation through
The Row Crop Production Manager will assist the Senior Vice
President of Row Crop Production in managing, planning, and controlling of
daily farm operations. The Row Crop Production Manager will need to be
able to work independently as well as with a team. The Row Crop
Production Manager will also be responsible for carrying out the Company’s
mission, objectives, and financial goals while ensuring production efficiency,
quality, and service. The Row Crop Production Manager will report
directly to the Senior Vice President of Row Crop Production.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assists with directing and coordinating of
worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application,
harvesting, and storage of crops.
Records information relative to farm regulation
requirements set by the state and federal authorities.
Assists with research and purchasing of
fertilizer, seed, chemicals, and any necessary equipment.
Assists with organizing the maintenance and
repair of machinery and equipment.
Maintains knowledge of pests and diseases and an
understanding of how they spread and how to treat them.
Documents all yields and land use to meet
funding requirements from outside sources as well as performs internal
Assists with developing schedules for crop
Enforces health and safety standards and
provides ongoing safety training.
Helps ensure production efficiency, quality,
service, and cost-effective management of resources.
Competently deals with unexpected situations.
Assist with the purchase, storage, and
application of chemicals.
Use and coordinating of real time Kinematic RTK
Global Positioning Systems
Assist in coordinating with marketing on
development of new varieties and crops
Supports the Vice President of Row Crop
Production and assumes all responsibilities in his absence
Attend leadership team meetings
Assist in carrying out the strategic plan to
advance the company’s mission, objectives and financial goals.
Coordinate with owners on purchasing equipment
and other operational needs.
Performs any other duties as assigned by
Skills and Specifications:
Two year Associate’s Degree or better in a
Understanding of crop production & current
farming practices with at least three to five years of experience.
Ability to effectively manage personnel.
Coordination and good organizational skills and
the ability to multitask
Critical thinking and complex problem solving.
Evaluation of farming procedures and
Quality Control Analysis.
Conflict Resolution between farm associates
Must obtain and maintain a pesticide
Honesty and Integrity.
CDL Driver’s License preferred.
Experience with GPS preferred.
Proficient knowledge and experience with farm
equipment repair and maintenance.
Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office
Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Ability to work independently and with a team
Strong ability to communicate with all types of
