Dr. Zuzana Bednarikova conducts applied research in the broad area of rural social and economic development. Her current research focuses on community resilience, small entrepreneurship, food-related businesses, and workforce development. She is concerned with different analytical approaches to understand factors and conditions that enhance the economic opportunities of rural small businesses and sustainable regional economic growth.
Her international experience involves researching the economic performance of agriculture and small businesses, youth out-migration, and entrepreneurial intention in rural Russian Siberia. Her research in Europe concentrated mainly on evaluating the European Union Rural Development Policy using different quantitative and qualitative research methods. She provided consultancy services for the European Network for Rural Development on farm diversification.
Zuzana received her B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Economics and Management from the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague and her Ph.D. in Regional Studies and Public Administration from the University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic.
