By: Madison Hire

One of the colleges largest events is put on by a committee of students that have a passion for communicating what our industry is all about. Each year they add new students to students to the committee like Ashley Porter, a Freshman studying Quantitative Analysis. Porter said, “As a new member we’re there to bring new ideas and help with whatever we can, but in the in the future, I hope I can expand my responsibilities to help with the treasure position and finances.” Another recruit Larissa Johnson, a Sophomore studying Agribusiness Management said, “the first year on Ag Week Task Force is all about getting your feet wet and understanding the process.” Each student that is brought on has talents in different areas that will help make the week successful. Abigail Powell, a Freshman studying Agribusiness Marketing said, I was selected to be apart of the media team, so most of my role will entail communications and public relations!”

These students have the opportunity to not only spread the word of what our industry is about to kids at Purdue but people in the community as well. Powell said, “Something that fuels my passion for agriculture is being that connector between people who do and don’t understand the agriculture industry.” The new team members are excited to jump in feet first and put their footprint on Ag Week. Johnson said, “I am excited to work on a multifunctional team and bring ideas to life as a group.”
