Steven Doyle

I am a first year PhD student advised by Ankita Raturi in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Purdue University. I Joined AxiLab in August 2020. My research interests include crop modeling, designing digital tools for farmers, and food security throughout the world. In my doctoral training at Purdue, I am leaning into the programming aspect of digital agriculture to complement my natural sciences background. I hold a Master of Science degree in Soil Science from the School of the Environment and Natural Resources at Ohio State University, where my research focused on soil quality on smallholder farms in Tanzania. You can download my thesis here. I have also obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of Cincinnati. In addition to my academic training, I have worked with several nonprofits on food security and agricultural growth initiatives in Southeast Asia.
