My roles included both crop scouting and sales. In the beginning of the growing season, I focused mainly on staging crops, doing stand counts, and identifying early nutrient deficiencies and crop damage. I was able to see sandblasting for the first time and how it affected crops throughout the growing season. I also was able to observe the effects of overspray and what happens when you don&#8217;t properly clean out a sprayer tank. Towards the end of the summer, I focused more on cold-calling farmers to gather information about who local growers are using for seed, chemicals and services. I learned a lot this summer as cold calling was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I am so glad I have that experience moving into the industry. My advice to others would be to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, it is a great skill in customer service.
