​Book Harmon Scholarship Program


Undergraduate Scholarship - $1,000

The Book Harmon Leadership scholarship is sponsored by the program's founders, doctors Robert Book and Bud Harmon.

Criteria for the scholarship are:

  • Have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Possess good communication and leadership skills
  • Be involved in extracurricular activities

Students may apply for the Book Harmon Leadership scholarship by completing the Animal Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship and Award Application. Additional questions regarding student's leadership development and activities must be answered to be eligible for consideration.


Graduate Scholarship - $1,000

The Book Harmon Leadership Scholarship was established in 2005 by Bob Book and Bud Harmon in recognition of their efforts to provide and promote leadership in animal agriculture. Each year, the Book-Harmon Leadership Scholarship provides a $1,000 scholarship to reward a graduate student in Animal Sciences that has displayed outstanding leadership skills and efforts.

Criteria for the scholarship are:

  • Focus in Animal Sciences
  • Have and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Possess good communication and leadership skills
  • Be involved with department, university and national organizations

 The Book Harmon Leadership Program encourages student groups to build their leadership skills by attending developmental programs and functions. To assist with costs, the program offers stipends ranging from $300 to $500 to qualifying trips.

Groups must submit a cover letter and personal statement detailing why and how their trip will help their leadership development in relation to their careers. Applications may be submitted to Barry Delks.

Book Harmon will compensate the cost of the trip upon return. Clubs must return with their receipts of their costs. Trips must be approved for the stipend prior to the trip in order to be reimbursed.
