Elements of successful integrated proposals:

  1. Select a project area with high potential impact and significant public benefit. Create an integrated approach:
  2. Research: What are the gaps in knowledge?
  3. Extension: How will you reach those who need the information?
  4. Education: How will you train the next generation?
  5. Identify possible positive outcomes (develop a Logic Model)
  6. Build an interdisciplinary team representative of the integrated approach
  7. Involve the entire team from the beginning and throughout the project
  8. Engage stakeholders and identify their role in the project, include letters of support as appropriate
  9. Develop clear measure of project performance and supporting evaluation
  10. Include all project functions (research, teaching or Extension) in one or more project objectives
  11. Develop evaluation criteria and plan
  12. Consider sustainability beyond the life of the project.
  13. Articulate administrative and management strategies.
