In October 1920, the first issue of the Indiana Vocational Digest was sent to all Indiana Vocational Agriculture Teachers and Club Supervisors in the interest of club and vocational work. The State Board of Education, Purdue University Agricultural Extension Department, States Relations Service U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Federal Board for Vocational Education provided information for each issue with Z.M. Smith, State Supervisor of Agricultural Education serving as the editor.
