Hi, I’m Clint Chapple’s lab manager. I was born in Gary, Indiana and have lived in the great Hoosier state all my life. I received my B.S. from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, majoring in biology. I came to Purdue in 1985 and I’ve worked in a wide variety of labs across campus in the Departments of Biological Sciences, Animal Sciences, Biomedical Engineering and Biochemistry. Along the way, I’ve met a lot of fascinating people, been lucky enough to participate in a lot of interesting research, and make a contribution to many publications.

I joined Clint’s lab in 1994 and seem to have found my niche. Although I was new to the field of biochemistry, Clint is a great teacher and I found that I really loved it. I’ve worked on the cloning and characterization of several of the phenylpropanoid pathway genes, the latest of which is REF4. In addition, as lab manager, I try to keep things running smoothly and make the lab a fun place to work, which is always a challenge but certainly never dull.

Outside of the lab, I love to spend time at my home on the Tippecanoe River. I enjoy knitting, gardening, kayaking (especially around the Florida panhandle, where we take our tandem), and travelling (the Galapagos Islands and the Ecuadorian Amazon were the trip of a lifetime; next is Africa).
