Hi, I am Ying Lu. I grew up in Hami, a small city in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. I am currently an associate professor in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health at Xinjiang Medical University with a focus on the relationship between the environment and human health, especially the relationship between environment and cancer. I earned my B.M. in preventive medicine and M.M and Ph.D. in occupational and environmental health all from Xinjiang Medical University. I joined Dr. Liu’s lab on October 10 and I will be visiting until September 2014. While I am here I will be working on Polo-like kinase 1 (Plk1), a critical regulator of many cell cycle-related events and taking part in Liu’s current on-going projects,Plk1 in arsenic-mediated cancer etiology."
