I joined the Ogas laboratory in October 2009. I am involved in characterization of the role of a CHD3 chromatin remodeler in zebrafish development and am also helping to develop new methods for the laboratory. CHD3 chromatin remodelers play significant roles in gene expression and development in vertebrates. Understanding how CHD3 remodelers contribute to gene expression and development in the zebrafish model system is likely to yield insights into how these proteins function in all vertebrates, including humans. My present work is focused on the cloning and expression of CHD3 genes from zebrafish.
Subsequently, the chromatin remodeling activity of the proteins will be examined using existing and newly developed biochemical assays.
