Hi, my name is Rachel Stegeman. I grew up in Maple Lake, Minnesota and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in biochemistry at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
The most appealing aspect of the Department of Biochemistry at Purdue University is the supportive environment the people of this department create. Successes are shared among the department and everyone is very personable, which makes this a great place to develop as a scientist. This is largely why I chose their program to do my graduate studies.
After rotating in three labs my first year, I joined the Weake lab in spring 2013.
In my free time I enjoy swimming, being outdoors, yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
