My name is Hongji Gui. I received my bachelor's degree in biology from Wuhan University.
I wanted to attend Purdue University because it is a very good university with excellent academic conditions. What attracted me to Department of Biochemistry was that it is a small, but really warm department. I have the opportunity to know everyone here. The most important thing is that I could learn how to think critically here, which is of great significance for my research.
I joined the Department of Biochemistry graduate program in fall 2011 and after doing three rotations my first year, I joined Dr. Natalia Dudareva's lab in spring 2012. My project is about the Phenylalanine biosynthesis pathway.
In my free time, I like watching movies, listening to music and reading.
