Hey! My name is Nina Serratore and I'm originally from Grand Rapids, Minnesota. I completed my B.A. in chemistry and dance from Gustavus Adolphus College. During my summers at Gustavus I worked for Dr. Scott Bur in an organic chemistry lab on pyrrolizidine alkaloid synthesis and the reaction kinetics of the Diels-Alder mechanism. After Gustavus I took a year off and performed in Walt Disney World.

I entered the Purdue Biochemistry Ph.D. program in the fall of 2011. The small labs, great facilities, welcoming department and Cancer Research Center are just some of the reasons I chose Purdue. My growing interest in how post-translational modifications, specifically histone lysine methylation, affect gene expression led me to choose the Briggs lab in spring 2012.

Outside of lab I love to dance, cook, read and run. Did I mention sleep? I love that too.
