Botany and Plant Pathology

  • Graduate Research Assistant

Cara McCauley is a Ph.D. student with Dr. Bryan Young investigating the basis of differential sensitivity of horseweed (Conyza canadensis) to various auxin herbicides. Research into the physiological and genetic components of auxin herbicide sensitivity will provide insight into how auxin compounds act differently to control plants and how the difference can be exploited for improved weed management. The goal of this research is to bridge the molecular biology, bioinformatics, and applied agriculture disciplines to better understand the auxin herbicide mode of action.
