Pratap Devkota is currently working for a PhD under supervision of Dr. Bill Johnson evaluating the effect of spray water quality on herbicide performance. Pratap is conducting studies to investigate the effect of spray water temperature, pH, and hardness; zinc and manganese foliar fertilizers; and ammonium sulfate on efficacy of POST-applied herbicides such as 2,4-D, dicamba, premix of 2,4-D and glyphosate, premix of dicamba and glyphosate, glufosinate, and mesotrione for giant ragweed, horseweed, Palmer amaranth, and pitted morningglory control. In addition, his research project is focused to determine the solubility, absorption, and translocation of herbicides at different pH and hardness levels of spray water. The primary objective of this research project is to gain knowledge for an effective use of herbicides with regard to optimum spray water conditions for maximizing weed control.
