The following question was sent to the P & PDL diagnosticians here at Purdue University:
Question: I live in New Mexico and I have found six camel spiders in my home. I would like to know how to get rid of them and if they are poisonous.
Answer: Camel spiders can sometimes be referred to as sun spider and also wind scorpions. They are in the family solifugae and are very fond of shade. These spiders are not poisonous and do not bite unless they feel distraught.
