These tuliptrees (Liriodendron tulipifera) are exhibiting several symptoms of decline as a result of root-zone damage during construction of the adjacent parking lot.  The trees exhibit:

  1. undersized leaves
  2. reduce leaf density
  3. stem and branch dieback
The future of these trees is uncertain.  Irrigation is provided so moisture stress is not as acute in the summer as it would be without supplemental water.  However, continued decline is a likely possibility given the substantial loss of roots suffered as a result of construction.
