Black Rot of Grape

Bruce Bordelon, Small Fruit Extension Specialist For information about this disease and its management, please refer to BP-36, Black Rot of Grapes and ID-146, Managing Pests in Home Fruit Plantings, available through the Media Distribution Center.

There is a new product sold at the home/retail level called Immunox (which is the same as Nova, myclobutanil) that will provide excellent control of black rot if used BEFORE infections occur. It is important to realize that little, if anything, can be done at this time of the season.

As soon as grapes reach veraison, or start to change color, they become resistant to black rot. That is occurring on most varieties in southern Indiana now.
