{"id":8211,"date":"2021-03-16T17:03:22","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T17:03:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ag.purdue.edu\/btny\/purdueweedscience\/?page_id=8211"},"modified":"2025-03-05T18:45:35","modified_gmt":"2025-03-05T18:45:35","slug":"marcelo-zimmer","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ag.purdue.edu\/btny\/purdueweedscience\/people\/marcelo-zimmer\/","title":{"rendered":"Marcelo Zimmer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ag.purdue.edu\/btny\/purdueweedscience\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20240829-Marcelo_Zimmer-001-portrait.jpg\" alt=\"20240829-Marcelo_Zimmer-001-portrait\" height=\"1920\" width=\"1222\" title=\"20240829-Marcelo_Zimmer-001-portrait\" \/>\n<h1>\n\t\tMarcelo Zimmer\n\t<\/h1>\n\t<p>Marcelo Zimmer is originally from a small family farm in southern Brazil and received his Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Agronomy in 2014 from the Federal University of Pelotas (Brazil).\u00a0\u00a0In 2015, Marcelo joined the Purdue Weed Science Lab as a Master&#8217;s student under the supervision of Dr. Bill Johnson, where he researched the management of glyphosate-resistant horseweed utilizing a new herbicide active ingredient from Dow AgroSciences [halauxifen-methyl (Elevore)], graduating in 2017.\u00a0\u00a0Currently, Marcelo works as a Weed Science Program Specialist, while also pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Weed Science.\u00a0\u00a0His research is investigating the basis for the antagonism of synthetic auxins (2,4-D and dicamba) on the control of volunteer corn using ACCase-inhibiting herbicides (clethodim and quizalofop).
