With a background in molecular biology, genetics and biotechnology, my goal is to contribute to innovation and sustainable approaches to improve weed management systems and crop protection. My work involves to develop new molecular markers to detect mutations in herbicide target sites, utilize molecular assays to screen suspected resistant weed populations and develop rapid physiological assays related to herbicide resistance mechanisms in weeds. I earned my PhD degree in Plant Molecular Biology at University of Delhi, South Campus, India in Paramjit Khurana’s Lab, where I studied molecular basis of embryogenesis and abiotic stress in wheat and Arabidopsis. Prior to this, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry (Hons.) from Banaras Hindu University, India and Master’s degree in Biotechnology from APSU, India. Outside of the research, I really enjoy travelling, experimenting with flavors in the kitchen and gardening that brings a sense of peace to me.<\/p>\n
\n\t\tSelected Publications\n\t<\/h2>\n\t\n\n\n\n
Johal, G.
