Scott graduated from Purdue University with a bachelors degree in agricultural education in 1982. He taught vocational agriculture at area high schools for 12 years, then returned to the farm in 1994. While teaching he obtained a masters degree in education from Purdue in 1987. As third-generation farmers, Scott, his brother Mark, and cousin Tom are leading the way for Maple Farms. He and his wife Cheryl have 3 children (Aaron, Leslie, Caleb). His son Aaron is part of the fourth-generation to operate Maple Farms.
In 1930, Clifford Maple and his wife Edna purchased a 160 acre tract of land in Taylor Township of Howard County. This was the beginning of what is now known as Maple Farms, Inc., a 3rd generation farm transitioning to a 4th generation farm.
