Assistant Coordinator 

Keweenaw Invasive Species Management Area (KISMA)

Position: Full-time (~40 hrs/wk) through Fall 2025; continuation based on funding
Employer: Michigan Technological University (MTU)
Location: Keweenaw, Houghton, and Baraga Counties (MTU campus)
Compensation: $20–$25/hr (based on qualifications); potential increase with grant success; mileage reimbursed at federal rate
Start Date: Negotiable, no later than March 30, 2025


Role Summary:
Support KISMA's mission to manage invasive species and foster native ecosystems by writing grants, supervising seasonal staff, conducting fieldwork, and leading outreach activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology, or related field
  • Experience with scientific data collection, MS Office, and ArcGIS Pro
  • Strong communication and fieldwork skills; detail-oriented
  • Preferred: herbicide certification, grant writing, plant ID, and outreach experience
