Biological Field Technician (Seasonal)
Location: New York, NY
Pay: $26.37/hour (35 hours/week, eligible for overtime)
Term: May 19, 2025 – August 15, 2025
The Natural Areas Conservancy seeks a Biological Field Technician to join its team for a freshwater wetland ecological assessment project across NYC’s five boroughs. This role is primarily field-based, with occasional office work for data entry and other tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect ecological data on freshwater wetlands following established protocols.
- Navigate to data sites using GPS and ArcGIS tools.
- Work in various weather conditions and challenging terrain.
- Perform data entry and operate NYC Parks vehicles as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, or related field.
- Valid NY state driver’s license.
- Experience in plant identification and botanical data collection.
- Ability to hike with field equipment (up to 30 lbs).
- Positive attitude and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of freshwater ecosystems, GPS, and ArcGIS.
- Familiarity with NYC natural areas.
