Spring Education Internship - Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA)

ISEA is seeking up to three enthusiastic interns for the 2024 spring season (early May through mid-June). Ideal candidates passionate about the Great Lakes, water resources, communication, science, and technology are encouraged to apply. This posting outlines three 7-week internship positions.

Program Overview:
Programs focus on Great Lakes topics delivered aboard educational vessels and shoreside.
Spring programs run Monday through Friday in Suttons Bay and Traverse City, MI.

Enthusiastic about teaching and learning.
Ability to work well with youth and adults.
Knowledge of Great Lakes science, technology, and environmental issues.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Strong team player.
Ability to climb ladders (companionways).
Not subject to severe motion-sickness.

Mature adults 18 years and older.
Commitment to all requirements and at least 35 hours of work per week.
Must pass a background check.

Internship Details:
Anticipated Timeframe: April 29 to June 14 (approximately 7 weeks).
Training Week: April 29 to May 3 - Welcome, orientation, and program introduction.
ISEA Spring 2024 season: May 6 to June 7 - Full-time work (30-40 hours/week).
Season Wrap-up: June 10-14 - Transition ship gear, complete final assessments, and reflect.

A stipend of up to $3,500 is available, dependent on full-time 7-week participation.

Interns are expected to be available for approximately 30-40 hours per week. Weekly schedules will be set with the intern supervisor. Exceptions can be made for those wishing to work part-time (20-30 hours per week), with the stipend adjusted accordingly.
