Job Opportunity: Summer Hydrology & Biogeochemistry Technician
Location: Fairbanks, Alaska
Duration: May–October 2025
Position Overview:
We are seeking a seasonal technician to manage and maintain a network of sensors that collect high-frequency stream chemistry data. The role involves monitoring telemetered data, collecting calibration samples, cleaning and troubleshooting sensors, and measuring stream discharge.
The technician will also support a collaborative research project exploring microbial and biogeochemical indicators of permafrost thaw.
- Measuring gas and VOC emissions from soils
- Conducting microbial sampling
- Assisting with soil coring
Qualifications:
While experience with in-stream sensors or telemetry is not required, candidates must be committed to collecting high-quality data and effectively communicating with the research team.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are essential.
