FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Pollinator Biology Assistant Professor (tenure track)
The Department of Entomology at Purdue University seeks to fill a tenure track position in pollinator biology. This is a nine-month appointment at the level of assistant professor with primary research and secondary extension responsibilities.
Responsibilities: The candidate will conduct research on pollinator biology, broadly defined. The successful candidate will also use the existing infrastructure in honey bee research at Purdue University comprised of on and off campus facilities, including approximately 100 colonies, currently used for breeding resistance to the Varroa mite. The individual is expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research program, work synergistically with ongoing pollinator research in the department and conduct interdisciplinary research with diverse teams. The candidate will also develop an innovative and research-based extension program that addresses the needs of beekeeper organizations in Indiana. The successful applicant will mentor graduate and undergraduate students and teach courses at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.
Qualifications: Must have a Ph.D. in entomology or biological sciences with relevant training in pollinator biology. Relevant post-doctoral research experience is desirable. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A background check is required for this position.
