Remote Sensing in Agricultural Research Webinar One: Understanding Remote Sensing: Concepts, Value, Applications, and Accessibility
We are excited to invite you to the Fall 2024 Remote Sensing in Agricultural Research Webinar Series, presented by Purdue University Plant Sciences in collaboration with GRYFN. This series will provide researchers, students, and industry professionals with essential insights into the latest advancements in remote sensing technologies and their applications in agricultural research.
Webinar 1: Understanding Remote Sensing: Concepts, Value, Applications, and Accessibility
-
- Date: August 27, 2024 | Time: 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM EST
- Speaker: Matt Bechdol, CEO of GRYFN
- Rule #1: There is no perfect sensing solution.
This session introduces the fundamental concepts of remote sensing, comparing our natural seses to the advanced sensors used in agricultural research. Participants will learn about various platforms, including drones, airplanes, and satellites, and the differences between proximal and remote sensing. The session will also explore the value proposition of remote sensing in agriculture, highlighting the tradeoffs of approach, cost, resolution, scalability, and time. We'll discuss the technological advancements that have shaped remote sensing tools and how these innovations have enabled new possibilities in agricultural research, including addressing the "So What Factor" to differentiate between innovative tools and mere gadgets.
