Military Extension Internship Program
We are no longer accepting applications for the Military Extension Internship Program. Thank you to everyone who applied and participated in the program.
Please see the placement and intern profiles pages for more information about interns' experiences, including the placement locations. You can also read more about interns' experiences on our Facebook page. Advisors, professors, and other educators should also see the educators page for more information about the academic component of the internship.
Interns receive a broad range of experiences during their 10 to 15 week internships. Interns will work directly with children and youth by creating and implementing age-appropriate curricula and programs. They will also learn about the management of child and youth centers, including finances and budgeting. Interns enjoy this unique internship opportunity and gain valuable professional skills that will help them in their future careers.
More than 500 interns have gained hands-on work experience in child development centers, school-age programs, and youth programs on active military installations around the world since the first class of interns in the spring of 2010. Over 21% of interns eligible for employment were hired with military child and youth services because of their internships.
