Boaters, anglers, and swimmers, you many want to think twice before heading out into Lake Michigan. Forecasters are predicting waves swells as high as 7 ft, creating dangerous conditions for anyone in water.
As the real-time Lake Michigan TIDAS 900 buoy gathers water temperature, wind speeds and wave height, it shares the data with weather forecasters including the National Weather Service offices in northern Indiana and Chicago, along with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The current cool air may be a welcomed break from July heat, but the shifting weather is not without its downsides.
