Feast Like a Hellbender

Whether you live near the Blue River in Indiana or just like visiting it, chances are you think that it's a pretty special place. The hellbender salamander thinks so too. Unfortunately, a number of habitat and water quality concerns threaten the health of the hellbenders and the places that we know and love. The "Feast Like a Hellbender" event has been scheduled for April 20, 2013 so you can gain insight about the hellbender, the surrounding environment, and receive some simple steps that will all can take to ensure cleaner and safer water for our lands and wildlife.

Kids of all ages have the opportunity to enter the following contests: Name the Hellbender Masoct Contest, Short Story Contest and Coloring contest. Winners will be announced at the event.

An all-you-can-eat Cajun cuisine dinner will be served along with door prizes, games for kids, ecuational materials for teachers, giveaways for anglers and more.

Come and join this great cause to ensure the Blue River continues to be a great home for people and giant salamanders.

For more information about the hellbender and to register for this event visit the Help the Hellbender web site.
