Guofan Shao, professor of the Department of Forestry & Natural Resources at Purdue University, has been named as an Associate Editor of the "International Journal of Sustainable Development & World Ecology. This leading international academic publisher, Taylor and Francis Group, publishes more than 1000 journals and around 1,800 new books each year, with a books backlist in excess of 20,000 specialist titles. They currently have offices in London, Brighton, Basingstoke and Abingdon in the UK, New York and Philadelphia in the USA and Singapore and Melbourne in the Pacific Rim.
Dr. Guofan Shao’s 2008 paper on landscape ecology is the second most frequently cited paper in landscape ecology published that year. Co-authored with Wenchun Wu, the paper is entitled “The Effects of Classification Accuracy on Landscape Indices”.
Dr. Shao is the Director of Forest Informatics and Landscape Monitoring (FILM) Laboratory at the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, Purdue University, and also serves at the Laboratory for Application of Remote Sensing (LARS) at Purdue University. Dr. Shao teaches Digital Remote Sensing and GIS (FNR 558), Fundamental Remote Sensing (FNR 357), and Forest Resources Practicum (FNR 330). Dr. Shao also serves as adjunct research professor at two institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences and is honorary dean of Jilin Changbai Mountain Academy of Sciences.
