The Sustainable Biomaterials: Process & Product Design Major prepares students for management positions in wood products manufacturing, particularly for the hardwood cabinet and furniture industries. Studies focus on sustainable materials resource evaluation, product strength design, lean manufacturing, end of life options, cradle to grave, cradle to cradle, zero impact theories, and use of life cycle assessment techniques. You will gain experience with complex natural resources utilization issues on a local and global scale.​

This major features knowledge in wood/wood products and industrial engineering technology. The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources and the College of Technology jointly administer the program.
