Doak Property

The Doak Property was acquired from the State of Indiana in October 2010. It is located just south of Winfield in Lake County. The 160 acre property is composed of native woodlands and wetlands along with numerous tree and warm season grass plantings.

  • The Doak Property was acquired from the State of Indiana in October 2010. It is located just south of Winfield in Lake County. The 160 acre property is composed of native woodlands and wetlands along with numerous tree and warm season grass plantings.
  • Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center (HTIRC) tree plantings to advance the science of hardwood tree improvement, genomics, physiology, protection, and utilization in the hardwood region of the United States.
  • Tree planting demonstrations with a focus on intermixing nurse trees and shrubs to benefit wildlife habitat while improving tree growth and quality.
  • Native warm season grass demonstration plantings to emphasize effects of species selection and seeding rates during establishment along with management impacts on long term habitat quality.
