Dr. Woeste is a scientist in the Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center (HTIRC) which develops genetic tools for studying forest trees to improve the sustainability, diversity, and productivity of the central hardwood forest.

Dr. Hoverman's is broadly interested in the fields of community ecology, ecotoxicology, and disease ecology. His research groups emphasizes the interactive effects of natural and anthropogenic factors in their work. Their work is mainly conducted in wetland systems with a focus on amphibians.
