Alyssa Beatty

In August 2013, Alyssa Beatty graduated with a M.S. in Food Science. Her thesis title: “Characterization of Savory Aroma Compounds in Aged Red Wines via Gas Chromatography-Olfactometry and Descriptive Analysis”. Ms. Beatty will work the 2013 crush at St. James Winery in Missouri and then travel to New Zealand for the 2014 harvest.

Amanda Stewart

In May 2013, Ph.D. candidate Amanda Stewart graduated with a Ph.D. in enology, studying with Dr. Christian Butzke. Her research interests included yeast nutritional status in juice and must from hybrid and Muscadine wine grapes, and developing predictive models for wine fermentation. Dr. Stewart took Bruce Zoecklein’s position at Virginia Tech as Assistant Professor of Enology and Fermentation Science.
