  1. Develop and disseminate economically viable food processing solutions to expand markets for raw commodities while reducing food losses and making nutritious and healthy foods for urban markets.
  2. Serve as the leading resource of food processing technologies for advancement of food security.
  3. Serve as the link between production and markets on food technology issues in agricultural development programs working in public sector, private sector, international organizations, and other stakeholders.
  4. Build capacity building in food science and technology through higher education training, short-term training, workshops, and seminars
