The sixth annual Purdue Ag Week, hosted by students and created to share information about the importance of agriculture with the campus community, is this week, April 3-7 on the Purdue University campus.
“I’m very excited for Ag Week to create a sense of community within the College of Agriculture and the entire Purdue community while also teaching others about the great things agriculture is doing and providing for everyone,” says Kathleen Jacobs, Ag Week Task Force Member and sophomore in agribusiness and agricultural communication.
Purdue Ag Week is composed of over 20 events, each presented by College of Agriculture student organizations. Some key events:
*Milk Monday—an event emphasizing the dairy industry during which members of the Purdue Dairy Club away 1,000 grilled cheese sandwiches and cartons of milk.
* Executive Dialogue with Purdue College of Agriculture Glen W. Sample Dean Jay Akridge and DuPont Pioneer Vice President Jerry Flint—a panel discussion about the agriculture industry and preparing the next generation of leaders kicked off Ag Week last Thursday, March 30th at 3:00 p.m. in Pfendler 241.
* Hammer Down Hunger –a meal-packing event open to all students and campus organizations that aims to pack 70,000 meals to send to children in Haiti will take place Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Memorial Mall
* Burger Bash—a free lunch buffet line that also teaches students agricultural information about the parts of a hamburger will take place Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Memorial Mall.
