Welcome to Purdue Landscape Architecture
Welcome to Purdue University Landscape Architecture. Our core mission is to generate the future practitioners and citizens who will provide leadership toward achieving a sustainable future for our planet.
Our dedicated and experienced faculty is committed to providing the depth and the breadth necessary for excellence in the profession of landscape architecture. Our studio-based curriculum spans recreation planning and design, new community design, urban and public open space design and natural resource planning, providing the advanced skills critical to achieving a sustainable environmental future.
One of our third-year students recently remarked. “Our program is like a big, close-knit family living in a cozy old home.” Although that description never appears in our mission statement it is an apt summary of our program. As educators, academic advisors and mentors, we strive to know each of our students. We celebrate their successes and we’re beside them through their struggles. After their days at Purdue are over, we gain tremendous satisfaction watching their professional careers blossom and grow.
As we approach the 50th anniversary of our program in 2014 we can reflect proudly on the positive impact that our first 1,200 alumni have had on our world. And we look forward to the next 50 years of continued excellence in educating students in the art and science of planning the built environment.
