Dr. Dana’s primary area is the undergraduate educational program in HLA.  His instructional responsibilities are mostly in the HORT major areas of study.  Advising work includes mentoring all enrolled HORT students as their primary faculty academic advisor  Administrative tasks place Dr. Dana in the lead role in programs such as new student orientation, scholarship awarding, student recruitment and student clubs (HORT).  Secondarily, Dr. Dana continues a modest connection to Extension despite no longer having a formal appointment in that mission area.  Of note is a collaborative Master Gardener continuing training program in European garden history, conducted with Rosie Lerner.  This program, offered in variations every summer since 2005, is a study-travel abroad experience that is annually fully subscribed.  An estimated 200-plus Master Gardeners (12 years x 25/year = 300, but many repeaters as the curriculum and itinerary change) have been impacted by this program.
