Melon Food Safety – 2012 and Beyond is an educational conference for melon farmers at all scales of production, packers, and brokers in Indiana, Illinois and neighboring states. Participants will learn about current topics in produce safety from a variety of speakers. Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to discuss and learn from one another.
Topics will include:
What Do We Know About the 2012 Salmonella Outbreak on Cantaloupe; Indiana State Dept. of Health Produce Safety Initiative for 2013; Food Safety Practices for Cantaloupe and Watermelon; Eastern Cantaloupe Food Safety Guidelines; Purdue Food Safety Research; Consumer Produce Handling; Learning from the Rocky Ford Experience.
