Introduction to Remote Sensing

Remote sensing courses

Remote sensing tutorials

Here are links to a sequence of four tutorials which were used as part of the one-cedit *Introduction Remote Sensing" module taught for several years in ABE at Purdue University.

  1. Empirical Line Calibration is an exercise introducing the empirical line method for conducting a simple atmospheric correction. Uses UAS imagery and reflectances collected during the flight by a hand-held spectromoter over in-field calibration targets.

  2. Georegistration is an exercise using Pix4DMapper and the structure from motion (SfM) methodology to build an orthomosaic image from multiple UAS images.

  3. Image Classification is an exercise to demonstrate how to classify a remote sensing image.

  4. Remote Sensing Access is an exercise demonstrating how to access satellite remote sensing imagery.
