There are several banks near campus, including PEFCU that is located right at the Purdue Memorial Union. Chase is located near campus by Chauncey Hill.
To open a bank account you need your passport, proof of local residence, and student number. Your initial deposit can consist of money in traveler's checks or a bank or cashier's checks drawn in U.S. dollars on a U.S. bank. Avoid checks in U.S. dollars drawn on a foreign bank.
Such checks take much longer to clear than checks drawn on U.S. banks. Remember that until a check clears, you will not have access to your funds.
