Agricultural Administration building

The Lilly Greenhouses and Plant Growth Facility, located south of Lilly Hall of Life Science, serve as the primary greenhouse space available to the departments of Botany and Plant Pathology and Agronomy. The facilities consist of 57 individual greenhouse rooms totaling 53,960 square feet, a head house and rooms dedicated to growth chambers.

Existing greenhouse space, including 45 rooms and totaling 43,160 square feet, was renovated and updated in 1999. Improvements to these rooms included the addition of cool pads, exhaust and horizontal air movement fans, tempered glass and new benches. Two 15 square feet autoclaves are located in the central corridor and new sashes were installed in ranges 1-7. All rooms are heated with low-pressure steam and a Q-Com Computer Controlled Environmental System monitors the environment.

An additional 12 rooms totaling 10,800 square feet were built in 1998. Features include tempered glass, overhead lighting outlets, pressurized air, RO water, concrete floors and benches. Two unit heaters and perimeter hot water lines provide heat and cool pads, two exhaust fans and jet fans with air tubes help to cool. As in the renovated space, the environment is maintained by a Q-Com Computer Controlled Environmental System.

There are also 8 chambers owned by the school of agriculture dedicated to common use in the school, these chambers are connected to a central host computer for monitoring, and alerting personnel of possible problems.
Management of this space includes space allocation, pest control, soil, setting of environmental controls, monitoring and maintenance of equipment.
