Meet the Purdue ANSC Student Services Team: Fawne Richert

Fawne Richert is the Undergraduate/Graduate Program Assistant of the Purdue Animal Sciences Department’s Student Services Team.

Fawne is from Manhattan, Kansas, which is where she met her husband, Brian Richert. Brian is an associate professor in the Purdue Animal Sciences Department.

Fawne is a mother of two, and she was a stay-at-home mom until she began working at Franciscan Hospital. She worked there for eight years and came to Purdue after the COVID-19 pandemic. She has been a member of the department for three years now.

According to Fawne, she loves the animal sciences department.

“One of my greatest joys is working in student services,” Fawne said. “All of the people in the department have been so welcoming and fun to be around.  I am so glad that I joined this team.”

As an Undergraduate/Graduate Program Assistant, Fawne helps with all undergraduate activities. Additionally, she serves as the liaison between the graduate school and the animal sciences department.

“I help the graduate students navigate the graduate system from their application status to their final defense,” Fawne explained. “I have enjoyed meeting such a diverse group of students and watching all of them succeed and begin new futures.”

Fawne has several hobbies: reading, knitting and doing puzzles. One of her favorite restaurants near campus is Taco Rico.

Fawne has traveled to many places, but she said her favorite trips were to Scotland and New Zealand. According to her, she loves traveling to places that she has read about in books.
