Murfree Earns Boiler Changemaker Award

Lauren V. Murfree, an ASEC graduate student, received a 2022 Boiler Changemaker Award from the Purdue Graduate School.

The award gives Purdue faculty, staff, and students the chance to recognize graduate students and postdoctoral trainees on the West Lafayette campus for a job well done.

Her nominator wrote: “Through her work in the LGBTQ center here at Purdue, she has fostered a community of friendship among 70+ students who have historically felt left out. Moreover, she has managed to do this during the COVID-19 pandemic when people were more isolated than ever. She has thoughtfully and carefully put together virtual social events, so students can still have connection while feeling safe. In addition to her work in the center, she is working hard to produce much needed public health research.”
