Mekenzie Gear Junior | Delphi, IN | Animal Science and Biochemistry

Mekenzie Gear is a Junior pursuing a double major in Animal Sciences and Biochemistry with a minor in Biology. Mekenzie comes from small-town Delphi, IN where she grew up participating in 4-H and FFA among other extracurricular activities such as student council. Although she did not grow up on a farm operation, Mekenzie showed horses in 4-H, open shows, and on the POA circuit for a period of time. It had been her dream to attend Purdue, with the end goal being vet school at the time, ever since she was in elementary school. She found her true passion for agriculture through her involvement in the Dean's Scholar program and Issue's 360 Fellowship. After completing her undergraduate studies, Mekenzie wants to attend graduate school for biomedical research, specifically to study the health effects of food insecurity and malnutrition. Mekenzie joined Ag Council in order to be surrounded by like-minded people who shared her passion for agriculture and desire to help connect others within the College of Ag. Mekenzie is excited to serve as your Ag Council Vice President this year and to continue helping the College of Ag to feel like home to all of its students!  (Gear@purdue.edu)
